Welcome to Campbell

The City of Campbell has a population under 50,000, and was incorporated in the early 1950’s, in place of old orchards where plums and other fruit was grown. It is surrounded by San Jose, Saratoga and Monte Sereno, and the character of its neighborhoods strongly reflects the flavor of the abutting city (Saratoga and Monte Sereno being more suburban and slower paced than San Jose with its urban buzz). In its mere 6.35 square miles, Campbell packs in a small downtown area largely filled with restaurants, a larger open air shopping development called the Pruneyard (home to a fantastic movie theatre and more great dining), and a significant number of businesses along major thoroughfares. It has just over 18,000 residences, of which half are rentals. Campbell’s central placement in the South Bay/Silicon Valley make it a great place for commuters working in the technology industry or other businesses that support that booming industry, and it remains equally desirable “after work hours” because of its proximity to multiple downtown neighborhoods (its own and those of neighboring cities like Saratoga) and to the urban amenities of San Jose. Recreational facilities offered by adjacent cities (e.g., the Los Gatos Creek Trail, hiking in the South San Jose parklands) are nearby for use by Campbell residents. Its strong public school system attracts families, and helps keep Campbell on the list of highly sought-after South Bay cities.
